The Maine Event

June 20, 2018

Last month I took a few days and went to Portland, Maine and I absolutely fell in love.

And with views like this, what's not to love? I almost can't believe I took this picture with my phone. It's now my desktop at work because I can't stop thinking about this trip.

We stopped to get fuel and... fuel at Starbucks and pulling around the rest stop there is a moose that I knew I needed to take a picture with.

There are so many thing I fell for during my visit. Portland is very walkable. The cobblestone streets throughout Old Port are reminiscent of years gone by.

The food and hospitality is wonderful. There was not one meal I had where I was disappointed. When asked what my worst meal was I was hard-pressed to choose. I ended up choosing my breakfast one day as it was "bad" by my own doing. I only wanted scrambled eggs with cheese on a plate. And that's precisely what I got. Mind you, the eggs were great. But I did myself a disservice by not having them in a sandwich/wrap.

I knew immediatelyI'd like the city but I truly didn't expect to fall for it the way I did. Sunrise, sunset, mid-afternoon it's beautiful all day long.

One of the main highlights for me was visiting the Allagash Brewery. Allagash is one of my absolute favorite beers and I was overjoyed to tour the brewery and sample a few beers I'd never had. Although Allagash does distribute, mostly to the east coast and California, the majority of their brews are in-house only.

I'm already counting down to my next visit. This time, hopefully in the late fall. If there's one thing I can say it's that Portland left a long-lasting impression on me. A love affair that is just starting.
