June Happenings

July 13, 2018

I'm fashionably late to the party as usual but I couldn't pass up joining in to recap all the fun things I did in June.

Kalahari

We took the annual trip to Kalahari this year and it was probably the best yet. Little Miss is growing up so fast and it's so incredible to watch her learn and be impressed by things I, as an adult, take for granted. Case in point, swimming underwater. When I explained to her how to either hold her nose or breath while swimming she was all smiles and kept practicing. More than that, she's my favorite partner in crime.

This year the ropes course was open so we did that. It was a lot of fun... and a lot of work! I had bruises and sore muscles for days! That same weekend I went to see Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats at Forest Hills and it was an awesome show.

Gulliver's Gate

Dani invited me to this awesome exhibit in NYC and I was absolutely enamored with all the displays. We pretty much toured the world checking out Manhattan, England, India, South America, and even a working airport. Everything was miniature and it was very impressive to see such large landmarks on such a small scale.

Beach

I got myself to the beach twice. There's nothing better than spending time soaking up the sun and saltwater.

Battleship Beer Fest

J and I headed down to Camden to sample over 25 of New Jersey's breweries. We look transit the entire way and I'd be lying if I said that wasn't an experience on it's own. The train to Trenton wasn't terrible. The Riverline from there to Camden... let's just say I saw a whole 'nother side of Jersey I'd be happy to forget. The festival was cool though. I tried a bunch of new stuff and even got to tour a retired US Navy battleship.

Pier 13/Shepherd & the Knucklehead

Dani and I got in more friend time when we were supposed to go to Pier 13 to see Thelma & Louise. I was the wet blanket because I didn't bring a jacket and it was windy AF. Needless to say I was freezing. She said she was cold as well {I think this was out of pity} and we headed to a bar.

Books on Books

I busted through my reading slump and read books in June. I just kept choosing winners so I couldn't stop, wouldn't stop.

All in all, I had a great month. I'm sure there' something I'm forgetting but this is the highlight reel!

  1. Little Miss is getting so big! Looks like a great trip! That is a TREK to Camden, but sounds cool. I just signed up for Kindle Unlimited and picked up Lies That Bind Us based on your review. Excited to start it!
