December 28, 2018

A fresh year is just around the corner and I'm already full of new hopes and goals. I don't necessarily look at January 1 as the end all be all to a fresh start, but it sure does help that it's the beginning of the year.

Last year I participated in Erin's book challenge and had a great time reading along with everyone. I'm back at it for this season, and even invited my mom to join in.

Since I did so well with my reading for 2018, I decided to up my overall goal to 35 books. There have been years I've far surpassed the goal, and others I didn't come close.

Here's a look at the first 10 books I plan to read in 2019.

Freebie: The Woman in Cabin 10

A book that was made into a movie: A Wrinkle in Time

Set in Europe: The Tattooist of Auschwitz

Newberry Award winner: Bridge to Terabithia

Friend or family member's favorite: The Shack

Published over 100 years ago: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Six words (exact) in the title: All the Light We Cannot See

Compass or cardinal direction in the title: Exit West

Originally published in a different language than your own: Madame Bovary

Begins with the letter "N": No Exit

I'm looking forward to reading all of these and applying them towards my 2019 book goal. I'm thinking 35 sounds good, especially since 2019 will celebrate my 35th birthday.

Wishing you all a wonderful New Year!
