28 Days

February 01, 2019

Happy Friday friends! Long time, no post. We're starting a new month today and already I know the next 28 days are going to feel like an eternity. It's just the way February is. But I'm not letting that discourage me!

As a matter of housekeeping I've decided to do away with seasonal/quarterly goals because, quite frankly, I forget about them. Instead, the idea is to set four goals for each month and build on them. I've already begun.

I kept it light for January and I'm pleased with how the month went.

  • I went 31 days without any added sugar. I plan to keep up with this but if I want sweetener I'll be using a bit of honey.
  • I went to yoga 0 times. Not even at home. I'm disappointed on this one.
  • I started to lay out my yearly, 3-year, 10-year, and lifetime goals (per the journal) and then I just stopped. It felt like too much work; too much future thinking. Instead, I created a few pages of a vision board  for the year in my planner.
  • I showed up at the gym 8 times and it's a good improvement. In the past I always said I struggle with being consistent but I'm done looking at it that way. Words have power. Instead, it will now be I am consistent with my fitness journey.

Building on my January work, here's what's in store for the next 28 days.

  • more cooking at home - food is my love language so I want to flex my skills.
  • close my move goal (670) every day - this will be a true challenge as I'll have to make sure I get moving in order to meet it some days.
  • track my food in Lose It - I got very lazy about this in the fall and it's the best way for me to be accountable about what I'm eating.
  • follow my AM/PM routines - this is something I struggle with making a habit, but it would make my life so much easier.

All small steps towards bigger goals.
