Let's Catch Up

February 13, 2020

It's been quite some time since I've sat down and poured my words into this space. Today I thought I'd do just that, as well as catch you up on what's going on in my little world.

I'm always intrigued by the way time works. As the day to day goes by it always seems as if nothing changes. Then we look back and the puzzle looks different than we remember it. I feel as though my 30s have operated this way without exception. But those highlights? Those are what I live for.

+ Speaking of highlights, the biggest highlight of 2020 has already happened. I'm officially tenured in the best job I've ever had. At the end of January I welcomed a nephew into my life. He's super cute and cuddly and if you follow me on Instagram, then you know how obsessed with him I am. He's #13 in the family line and I think it's absolutely incredible and amazing. #AuntLife is the best life!

I'm aiming for a new passport stamp a year and this year it's Spain. I feel like we booked this trip forever ago, and yet the departure date will be here in a month. We're flying into Barcelona, exploring for a few days, then hopping over to Madrid. I'm so excited for all the food!

Last summer hiking became one of my favorite hobbies. I went every weekend. Winter has slowed me down a bit but I'm still trying to go once a week. A few of my goals for the year were to get myself to Acadia National Park, go camping, hike somewhere outside of the tri-state area. In June, I'll be crossing off all three goals. Last week I booked my campground site in Acadia and now I'm researching tents. I'm filled with nervous excitement and can't wait for my first solo vacay.

I've been making an effort to elevate my wardrobe. I will forever be a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl, but that's no reason to look like I'm late for a 8 AM college class. I've been making an effort to buy pieces that can be worn to work, but can easily be worn on the weekend as well. I also started using Stylebook again to keep track of what I'm actually wearing.

+ I joined Acorns yesterday. It's a micro-investing app that rounds up my purchases and then deposits the money into a portfolio. Although I'm all about paying off debt, I like these small steps to help me squirrel money away for retirement.

What's new with you?
